A wealth of experience

Before founding the firm in 1990, Ellen G. Miller was Vice President of Account Services for a Kansas City public relations and marketing firm. Clients served included the Kansas City Public Schools and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.

Previously, Miller had spent 20 years designing and implementing information systems at the University of Cincinnati, Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Public Schools and the Library of Congress.

At the University of Cincinnati Computing Center, she was Director, Outside Contract Services, and then Director, Library Systems Development, for the main campus, the medical campus and three branch campuses.

Ellen finds that having worn all three library hats — employee, Friend and trustee — helps in understanding complex client situations. She was on the Johnson County, Kansas, Library Board from 1993 to '01; between 2001 and 2007, she sat on the Kansas State Library Advisory Commission. Being founding and former president of the Kansas Library Trustee Association (KLTA) and formerly an ALTA regional VP provide a broader view that clients find valuable. She edits the KLTA newsletter.

In addition, Ellen has conducted public involvement campaigns for municipalities large and small contemplating roadway, stormwater, bridge and water improvements. The goal? Helping citizens become partners with city staff. Plus she's authored many articles and books for the water industry. Other related experience includes president of Friends of the Johnson County, Kansas, Library during a major restructuring. In 2000, she was named to the National Advocacy Honor Roll sponsored by ALTA and ALA. Her B.S. is from the University of Oregon and her M.S. from the University of Illinois.
