Libraries seem to face the same sorts of problems over and again — but we've found that new technologies can help you arrive at solutions.
WebJunction has launched a new set of 50-minute webinars aimed at rural and small library boards. The webinars are created by Miller, Fisher and colleague Jim Connor. Topics have included "Board challenges and successes" and "Motivating your board: Money, lawsuits and facilities." A guest director or trustee tells how their library handled this topic and provides real-world advice. If you like fast-paced, audience-participation webinars, tune in! Warning: Humor is acceptable, and speakers may not be politically correct.
WebJunction has also started a "Trustee Tips'n'Topics," a monthly blog that tells it like it is. Find out facts, trends, do's and don'ts via short, to-the-point text plus links and resources. Topics include "Getting the buff board you need: Candidates, orientation;" "Trustees at conferences? Who needs it!" "Motivating your board: Money, lawsuits or facilities?" and "Library ROI: What's your community's rating?"
Bloggers are Ellen Miller, Pat Fisher and/or colleague Jim Connor. Together they have more than 80 years' experience being on or working with public library boards. They are active at local, state and national levels.
